My Experience

Mullen-Polk Foundation

Digital Marketer & Resource Specialist Intern

As an intern at the Mullen-Polk Foundation through Next Success, I primarily worked in the Family Resource Center, where I played a key role in revamping the organization’s website. I addressed SEO formatting issues and enhanced accessibility for visually impaired users. I built three social media profiles from scratch and created engaging video content, complete with editing and subtitles. Additionally, I resolved technical issues, such as fixing the donation button, and collaborated with GiveButter for a seamless transition. My outreach efforts included attending events, researching community partners, and identifying grant opportunities. Over the course of nearly five months, I exceeded my own expectations by providing valuable resources to clients and fostering connections within the community.

Content Creation (Volunteer) and Intern

During my time at Next Success, I dedicated several Fridays to shooting and editing content for their social media platforms. This experience allowed me to stay current with digital trends while honing my videography and editing skills. Additionally, I participated in the WEX paid internship program, where I was matched with a career mentor and collaborated with the Mullen-Polk Foundation, a local non-profit. This partnership gave me valuable insights into non-profit operations and community engagement. I completed 300 hours of hands-on experience in total, which enhanced my professional development and deepened my commitment to supporting organizations that make a difference.

P.E.O Sisterhood (Chapter IX)

Independent Graphic Designer

As an independent graphic designer, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Chapter IX of The P.E.O. Sisterhood (thanks mom), an organization dedicated to empowering women through education. I designed the covers for their yearbooks in 2020, 2021, and 2022, each reflecting a unique theme that resonates with the organization’s mission. My final design received such positive feedback that it inspired merchandise creation to further promote their values. Additionally, I created a stand-up banner that enhanced the chapter’s visibility at events. My work showcases my commitment to using design as a means to support initiatives that uplift and inspire women.

Crafts Group Americana, LLC.

Digital Marketing Specialist & Co-creator of the DEI Committee

In my role as a Digital Marketing Specialist for nearly three years, I collaborated with marketing managers and creative directors to design and execute targeted digital marketing campaigns, including engaging email blasts and brand podcasts. I prepared emails for customers across all four brands—Knit Picks, Crochet.com, Superior Threads, and Connecting Threads—ensuring consistent messaging and engagement. A key part of my responsibilities involved running A/B tests to optimize campaigns for increased views, revenue, and engagement. I also analyzed website performance to enhance SEO efforts and improve the customer browsing experience. I co-created the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committees. I contributed to initiatives such as “Celebration Day,” a floating PTO day for employees to choose a significant personal day, and the rollout of employee satisfaction surveys to promote a positive workplace culture. Additionally, I moderated brand Facebook groups, researched TikTok’s advantages for marketing, and provided insights on content engagement strategies. I managed paid social media advertising on META, tracking ad performance and offering best practice recommendations.
